Hey families! This time of year is prime time for family photos. That can be a daunting task to some families- especially if you have little ones (don't worry, I've been there!) Lucky for you I've learned some tips and tricks along my journey of motherhood and photography that will help your session go smoother.
Their favorite question
"Mom, can I have a snack?" The answer on photo day is YES! Filling their bellies before your session and having a snack to look forward to once their done is golden. Kids tend to enjoy themselves more in front of the camera is they have had something to eat. So pack that snack bag and have no shame in saying "yes" to a few extra snacks that day.
Schedule around them
One of the craziest thing us parents do is think we can get away with doing something during their nap or quiet time, right?! Scheduling your photos around your kids' schedule is great and if you can schedule them after nap time that is ideal. Kids have an internal time clock (just like us!) and sense when their day is off. Keeping them on track with give us better chances at those sweet smiles!
Arrive early, dress last
Arrive a few extra minutes early to your session, especially if it is a mini session where your time is more limited. Let them see the set up, the studio, the location, the everything! It gives them a minute to understand what they are doing and where they are. Oh, and throw their picture clothes on them when you get there! That saves you the stress of them getting themselves dirty beforehand. Plus, it's like putting on a costume for them. Their picture clothes tell them its "go time".
As always, thanks for allowing me to be apart of your family memories behind the lens. I truly cherish seeing your families grow and expand.
